The Healing of Jim McBrown

“It’s not looking good, said the doctor. “We’ve found something suspicious on the MRI. Jim, who was sitting across from the doctor, suddenly became pale as he attempted to process the news. Further tests in the coming week would confirm a diagnosis. Treatment began as soon as possible. One night, after Jim had spent a long day in hospital, he fell asleep; and while he slept, the following was revealed through what he would later refer to as The Voice:

***

“You are consciousness,” said The Voice. “You are of the same nature as I Am That I Am. You are neither the body nor the mind. The body has become ill because you are holding negative emotions that have not yet been processed in a healthy way. The greatest power is spiritual power. It flows from the highest gradient downstream–much like water–to the lowest. That which Spirit habitually envisions (especially if imbued with great feeling) flows down through the mind and is made apparent as matter. This applies to what humans label good and bad. If you let go of that which is negative, there will be room for That which is positive to heal you. This is the reason for the account of Job, in the Bible:

For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me,

and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”

“Job experienced such tremendous suffering because he always focused on the negative. To him, his apparent world was always wrong. Trust, me,” said The Voice, “I speak truth unto your ear. Please listen again to scripture which has revealed the veracity of that which I share:

Mark 9: 23: “Jesus said unto him,

If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

As Jim was rising from the drowsy wispiness of sleep, he again heard The Voice: “If you pay more attention to what is right and good within–trusting upon me–then such will appear within your world. I will give unto you that which you believe.” The last words that Jim heard were these: “Let not your heart be troubled.”

***

In the coming weeks, Jimmy continued to have treatments; but a change had occurred within him. He knew that if he focused upon his vision of healing it would be so. He didn’t have to know the way that such would occur. The treatments progressed and somehow, Jim realized that–whatever happened–all would be well.

Word, Words, Words

Words, words, words, you say–nothing more than words! No, my friend, we are told in John 1:1 that in the beginning was the word; so it was–and still remains. Words are incredibly powerful–far mightier than the sword. Therefore, use them–and choose them–wisely. In The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel, he stated that “words are but the cloaks of thought.” By that, he meant that words are but spoken thoughts; conversely, thoughts are but silent words. Why, should this matter? Because our habitual thoughts, words, and actions are determining the very quality of our life. What is impressed upon the mind–especially with feeling–will be expressed. What we’re telling ourselves literally “matters.”

If all of this seems like so much mumbo jumbo, please continue reading to give yourself a chance at understanding the depths of what’s being shared. The placebo effect is well known–it has been for centuries. Have you not heard of old wives’ tales in which warts were “cured” by having the “patient” rub them with bacon, or perform some other bizarre ritual? And yet, the warts disappeared; depending on the faith of the patient; the cure had nothing to do with the actual efficacy of some potion. That’s the reason why the Bible has a verse such as the following, from Matthew 17:20: “…If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” What you may not know is that there is also an effect termed nocebo (to harm), which is related to habitually focusing on negative thoughts and feelings. Many of you have probably heard of someone who was informed that he/she only had six months to live and, instead, was dead within six days. The effects, you see, are related–at least in part–to what the patient believes.

You’ll understand the depths of this if you’re willing to consider–even though this is going to seem impossible to believe–that the world in which you’re seemingly immersed is a thought world made from Consciousness alone. Yes, this is a mental universe. If you doubt this (and I most certainly did) please consider what would be the most essential ingredient involved in having any experience. Could you know anything, could you experience an event, could you remember information in the absence of Consciousness? No, of course not. The linchpin of all is Consciousness. It is not produced by the brain–the body-mind is in Consciousness, of Consciousness, and known by Consciousness!

The affirmation in the photo at the top of this article is actually taken from my bedroom. I see it every day in passing. It’s based on the original from Charles F. Haanel, who was a New Thought teacher and successful businessman. His affirmation–which was considered ideal–read as follows: “I Am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy.” When I first read his affirmation many years ago, I admit that I found it challenging to state it with any authority. It just seemed like such a stretch to my rational mind. If you choose to use it, the affirmation may also challenge you; but I assure you that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so.

The point of this article is not to tell you to do anything; and I’m certainly not advising you to go against any medical advice if you’re seeking treatment or any kind. The point is to share knowledge that may be of assistance and help you live a more rewarding and successful life. I’ll leave you with another passage from the Bible, found in Phillipians 4:8: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Coincidence that the message is so positive?

Dare to dream (and care for one another).

Dream Within A Dream

Alan Watts was no lightweight when it came to philosophy and a deeper understanding of our true nature. From The Book, On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are, Alan states the following: “Apart from you brain, or some brain, the world is devoid of light, heat, weight, solidity, motion, space, time or any other imaginable feature. All these phenomena are interactions, or transactions, of neurons with a certain frequency of vibration. Thus vibrations of light and heat from the sun do not actually become light or heat until they interact with a living organism, just as no light-beams are visible in space unless reflected by particles of atmosphere or dust.” In short, he’s stating, as Paramhansa Yogananda did so concisely, that “mind is the creator of everything.”

What is the use of such knowledge? Basically, it can help us know What we truly are (not who), and gain a deeper understanding of the nature of the universe in which we apparently find ourselves. Understanding of our essential nature, which most persons shun in favour of the conceptual version fed to us by society, can help alleviate suffering.

For the majority of individuals, this world seems to be filled with a multiplicity of subjects and an even greater number of objects. This error is called duality–the world of subject and object; in contrast to the Truth, which is Oneness. For persons, we have personal names such as Bob or Carol and Ted or Alice. For the impersonal objects, we have words such as tree, rock, school, and house. Duality can basically be summed up as follows: “I (the subject) see the tree (an object). However, what’s going on behind the curtain of reality is much more mysterious. If we refer to the quotation from Alan Watts, we can understand that the tree is actually viewed within the dark space of your brain. The same holds true for our body–and all other objects. The person and the thing are actually comprised of streaming energy that’s translated into shapes. The mind puts both in motion; even though we believe, with absolute certainty, that we move ourselves. There is only one doer; and that doer is Infinite Living Mind. Our body appears to move due to the power of Maya, which is a Sanskrit word that basically translates as illusion. What most people assume to be Reality is actually the waking state; which is merely a longer, more highly defined dream that engages all of our senses. The word dream, dream, dream echoes throughout every spiritual book about our true Self. Everyone who is not yet awakened is, in fact, still asleep in the dream that we call “our life.”

“Okay, so you may think, “but there’s a real world of trees and rocks and schools and houses, right?” The short answer is “No, there isn’t.” It will be very natural to argue that this cannot possibly be the case; for we’ve been conditioned to think of ourselves as a body and a mind in a “material” world. However, the world that we experience is made from our perceptions. That’s it. Quantum Physics has known this for many long years; since the search began for the tiniest bits of what we term matter. Atoms, which were once believed to be the building blocks of a solid universe, are, in fact, 99.999% empty space. Yes, there are forces that are very real, but they are not translated into things called matter until our mind renders them as things.

What we experience enters our field of consciousness via the Law of Attraction; a law that decrees: that which is in harmonious vibration will be drawn together; in much the same way that two tuning forks of the same key will both resonate if only one is struck. That’s how reality streams to us–as vibration, which is interpreted by Awareness. Our habitual thoughts and words–especially those imbued with feeling–cause our true nature (Awareness, Consciousness) to vibrate at certain frequencies and, thereby, attract to us that to which we’re attuned. That’s why the rich get richer; and the poor get poorer. The rich attune themselves to prosperity; while the poor attune themselves to poverty. Our habitual attitude plays a huge role in what we apparently experience.

Nichola Tesla, who was one of the greatest inventors the world has ever known, stated the following: “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” Perhaps the subject is worth a little investigation; especially if doing so can lead us to awarness of our true Self.

Dare to dream (and care for one another).
